Brothers and Sisters,
To possibly quote one of our class members who usually sits on the floor in her good clothes, even when someone offers her a chair, a “grandulopolisly, fantastilaciousical, superialoptical” welcome to By Every Word - your blog!
We have talked a lot during class on Sunday mornings this year about how our faith is a full-time gig, about how God wants us to live every moment, every part of our lives, for Him - because that kind of living glorifies Him and blesses us.
We hope that this is a place that you can use to help you to do that!
There’s already a lot of good stuff here:
• Tools for searching scriptures by keyword and verse, and commentaries and all that – so you can outsmart your teachers!
• Links to area Christian radio stations
• A feed of clean jokes that you can even tell your parents!
• Links to trustworthy blogs and info
• Links to school pages, Spark Notes, and other kewl skewl stuph (I know, I know, cleverness is my gift!)
At the heart of the site, of course, are the blog posts – you know, pearls of wisdom from your follically-challenged teachers.
Sometimes the posts will be summaries of what we've talked about in class, or related to the subject we're covering. Sometimes we'll borrow from other blogs we trust.
And sometimes - I hope - you'll have something you want to say, too, in addition to leaving comments. So let us know, and we'll blog your thoughts. (And don't be surprised if we ask you to contribute something!)
We’ll also post photos, videos, and an occasional ham and cheese sandwich, once we figure out the technical issues.
The point of all of this is that we can stay connected during the week. It's an opportunity for us to go a little deeper than the 45 minutes on Sunday mornings allows. And in turn we can get a little help from each other to keep our “eyed fixed on Christ.”
But all of this is just a start!
Let's make this your page: check out what's here now, and make suggestions for other things we should add that will make this a site you'll want to come to a lot, one that you'll enjoy and be proud of.
In other words, don't just depend on an old guy like me, and an even older guy like Mr. Spencer - spend some time here checking things out, and make suggestions! Let's make this a place we can all enjoy and use - for fellowship, fun, and most importantly, another way we can all grow in our faith.
Your brother in Christ,
Mr. Ferrell
